Diabetes Assessment & Management Center (DiAMC) (Shreveport, LA, 11/30/2015) – Diabetes Assessment and Management Center was recently awarded the American Diabetes Association Education Recognition Certificate for diabetes self-management education. ADA programs that receive recognition status have a staff of knowledgeable health professionals who can provide participants with comprehensive information about diabetes management and offers high-quality education that is an essential component of effective diabetes treatment. Diabetes Assessment and Management Center is the only diabetes program in Louisiana with a double accreditation by the American Diabetes Association and the American Association of Diabetes Educators.
According to a new study half of adults have diabetes or prediabetes. Many will first learn that they have diabetes when they are treated for one of its life-threatening complications – heart disease, stroke, kidney disease, blindness, nerve damage or amputation. Overall, the risk for death among people with diabetes is about twice that of people of similar age without diabetes. Diabetes Assessment and Management Center uses proven, patient-centered protocols to help patients get their diabetes under control, lose weight and reduce or eliminate medications. One of our patients said it best, “It will work for you!”
Another clinic is planned to open in Covington, LA in 2016. More information regarding the comprehensive program is available at www.diamc.com.
